these books feel like the equivalent of going for a hike up a mountain, only to find that the trail just does a loop in the woods and you end up back in the parking lot.
Its not that they are poorly written or bland, the ideas and concepts in this book (and series) are interesting, its just that the author fails to take them anywhere. Both the first and second books try to build up to this large conflict, when in reality nothing really happens and your left trying to remember what happened. I guess what is actually happening here is there is a single thing happening throughout the book, one plot, and as such it feels so straight forward that it feels bland in nature.
The best way to describe this book is the dresden files without an intelligent plot.
I really like the feeling of the books though, i just wish the author would put Way more into each books. Please make each book Way more complex
